THOUGHTS FROM MY SHED... moving more, eating less

Now I know the title of this blog sounds a bit odd but I think it the right time in my life to get my physical act together. Over the last few years I have been getting into some really bad eating habits and doing absolutely no exercise! I have got to the stage where I need to do something now as it is affecting my mental state and getting me down. I have decided to share this journey with you partly for myself so that I have to stay on the straight and narrow but also in case it helps anyone else out there who feels the same as me...

I want to go into a clothes shop without coming out in a cold sweat. I don't want to sit on the changing room stool in despair with those awful 4 way mirrors! Anyone with me here?

Mostly importantly I want to feel healthy and more energetic... so here goes.

My amazing husband (who by the way has not commented on my current figure!) has let me join his incredible gym to help me kick start this new me. He is very fit and goes there three times a week which is not bad for a 56 year old! To be fair there are some very beautiful ladies in his classes so it can't be too hard for him...

As I walked to the gym I could feel my heart rate increase in anticipation/dread as I was going for a Fit Food Consultation. I have to admit I did walk straight past it first time round but I told myself that as Richard had paid for this I had to go in. I was greeted by the wonderful MarkG - a massive Zimbawean with arms the size of tree trunks! He was so nice and encouraging so it was not as dreadful as I thought it might have been. I did not ask what I weighed or how much body fat I had but said he could tell me when I had lost weight - thought that would be less of a shock.

So here is my lunch today... looks good?

Next stage is moving about a bit more... so I have started with a trainer to get me going. I am the best giver upper on the planet so I need someone to get me going and not to whimp out! I am working with the nicest guy ever from Lomax called Adam who gave me a physical MOT for the first session yesterday. Needless to say I am unable to walk down the stairs (going up is sort of OK) and when I went out to my favourite shop today (Greene and Stone) to stock up on micro pens someone asked me if I needed any help going down to the basement! Next session on Monday which I think might be much harder. No pain no gain as they say.

I will keep you updated on my progress...
